Taglinks, in collaboration with Beaglewatch Security and Ziggy's Pet Pamporium, offer a community-powered lost pets service covering six neighbouring Johannesburg suburbs -
Three ways to participate:
QR-coded pet tags: Subscribe for R30/month (R360 annually) and get three free tags.
Tagless service: Subscribe for R25/month (R300 annually) and receive a unique link for each pet.
Volunteer: Join the WhatsApp group for free and help locate lost pets.
Refer-a-friend programme: Paid-up subscribers to the Lost Pets WhatsApp Group service have until end-August 2025 to invite 20 friends to join the service. We keep track and will award successful subscribers an instant Ziggy's R180 Voucher to spoil their pets!
QR-coded tags work by: enabling users to register their contact details and upload a pet photo, then allowing finders to open a direct WhatsApp chat with the owner by scanning the QR code on the pet tag.
WhatsApp group enhances the service by: allowing members on the group to report lost pets and participate as "Spotters" in the search party. The lost pet's QR code link is posted on the group along with a photograph of the pet. If a spotter spots the lost pet, they just tap on the link and are automatically in a chat with the owner of the lost animal on WhatsApp! Simple, smart & effective!
Service is well-established: Launched locally in 2022 and nationally in 2023, with over 1,500 active tags.
